The Moral Development (MD) Lab investigates how children, adolescents, young adults and families make sense of issues of equality, justice, and care within the family, within society and across cultural communities. Study topics include: caring within the family, chore participation, gender inequality, future family and work life expectations, microaggressions in higher education, moral transgressions in everyday life, and strategies children use to self-correct.
The MD Lab addresses two key questions: How do we come to care about each other and about justice within the family? How do we become just in the face of social inequality?
Taking a developmental and cultural approach, the lab’s ultimate mission is to discover how families, educators, and society can support individuals’ development into more caring and just individuals.
